The focus of my family law practice is on the amicable separation of two married people with children. My practice is dedicated to providing a means for a mother and father to divorce while continuing to concentrate on raising their children together, regardless of whether I represent mother, father or the children. In our world today children all ages and backgrounds face difficult daily challenges and struggles. This is true even for the children that come from loving, supportive two parent families. These everyday struggles are more difficult for children of a conflict-ridden, unhappy family in the midst of divorce. It is not the divorce that harms children so much as the impaired parenting of the parents as they work their way through the divorce. The emotional, physical and financial stress can be overwhelming. For these children to survive it is sometimes a miracle. Family research has shown that children living in the middle of conflict-ridden families where the problems remain unresolved have a far more difficult time making adjustments throughout their childhood and well into adulthood. Divorced parents often fight over many issues, including each other’s parenting styles, visitation guidelines, child support and extracurricular activities for the children. These issues can and will have long term effects on the children if left unresolved. My goal in representing the parents or the child, whichever it may be, is to navigate these difficult emotional waters so that after the divorce the parents together, can raise the children as partners, each, together, looking out for the child’s best interest.
